Resolution #3-17
February 22nd, 2017 Resolution for US to withdraw from UN WHEREAS The Republican Party of Texas Platform states as “United Nations- The United Nations is a detriment to the sovereignty of the United States and other countries, and because of this we support: ● The removal of the United Nations from United States soil ● The rejection of all Agenda 21 and Agenda 2030 policies and programs ● The rejection of all related NGO’s, Councils, and Environmental Programs ● A zero budget allotment of American tax dollars to any United Nations programs ● The opposition of any designation of World Heritage Sites in the United States and especially in Texas.”(SOVEREIGNTY, page 23) WHEREAS The Republican Party of Texas Platform states as “United Nations Treaty on the Rights of the Child- We unequivocally oppose the United States Senate’s ratification of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.” (PROTECTING OUR CHILDREN, page 12) WHEREAS The Republican National Platform of 2016 says “Our continued participation in the United Nations should be contingent upon the enactment of long-overdue changes in the way that institution functions. American taxpayers, the chief funders of the U.N., deserve full transparency in the financial operations of its overpaid bureaucrats. We should no longer tolerate its managerial scandals, its Human Rights Council composed of some of the world’s worst tyrants, and its treatment of Israel as a pariah state…” (Sovereign American Leadership in International Organizations, page 51); and these long overdue changes have not come to fruition, nor have the American taxpayers seen the full transparency into this organization that they deserve. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Liberty County Republican Party of Texas calls upon Congressman Brian Babin to co-sponsor HR 193 - American Sovereignty Restoration Act of 2017 by Congressman Mike Rogers. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be posted to the Liberty County Republican Party website (http://www.libertycountygop.com) within 72 hours and also sent to the offices of Congressman Brian Babin, Senator Ted Cruz, Senator John Cornyn, and to news media outlets from the Liberty County Republican Party Motion carried 8-0 at the Liberty County Republican Party’s March 7, 2017 meeting.
