The Liberty County Republican Party met in an Emergency Meeting on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, to accept the resignation of the Liberty
County Republican Party Chairperson, Emily Cook, and vote on the appointment of a new Liberty County Republican Chairperson. The Executive Committee, with eleven precinct chairpersons present, voted Sherial Lawson, the current Vice-Chairperson, to be the new Chairperson. Wesley Thomas was appointed to replace her as the Vice-Chairman. Sherial Lawson will serve as the Liberty County Republican Party Chairperson until the next election of the chairperson on March 5, 2024, in the Republican Party Primary.
